Australia & Regional Security: The Challenge of being an Indo-Pacific Middle Power in the Age of Trump

Dr John Blaxland

The Council is pleased to announce that the first USI event for 2017 will be a presentation by Dr John Blaxland of the Australian National University, entitled Australia & Regional Security: The Challenge of being an Indo-Pacific Middle Power in the Age of Trump.

Contrary to previous advice, the ADC Mess is now available and there will be networking from 1700 hours.

This presentation is the first in a series that will explore Australia's security in the region through a variety of lenses.  Dr Blaxland's introduction will establish the context in light of the 2016 Defence White Paper, and set the scene for a number of policy practitioners who will follow later in the year.

Dr Blaxland is a Life Member of USI of the ACT.  With thanks to the Australian National University, you can read his biography here.
