The Council is pleased to announce that international security and defence policy expert, Dr Stephan de Spiegeleire, is in Canberra in late November, and has kindly agreed to speak on capability-based planning and force design.  This subject is highly topical in Defence, particularly in light of the changes to capability development and sustainment responsibilities that flowed from the First Principles Review.

AVM Mel Hupfeld, Head Force Design in the Department of Defence,  touched briefly on force design in the Australian context as part of our Contestability in Defence panel presentation on 13 October.  Dr de Spiegeleire's presentation is a great opportunity for members and guests to build on their understanding of force design and compare Australian ideas with a European perspective.
