Wednesday, 11 October: Dr Norman Friedman: The North Korean Nuclear Weapons Program.
The Sea Power Centre - Australia and the Australian Naval Institute are pleased to announce a jointly hosted seminar by the world-renowned naval strategist Dr Norman Friedman on Wednesday, 11 October in the Ngunnawal Theatrette R1 from 0930 to 1100.
Dr Friedman will offer his assessment of the strategic calculus driving the North Korean regime's nuclear weapons program. He will also examine the role of Chinese and Russian policy towards the Korean Peninsula, as well as canvassing policy options for the United States and its allies. Dr Friedman's presentation will be followed by a period of Q&A.
Registration is not required but seats for this event will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive by 0915 for a prompt 0930 start.
Thursday 26 October: Australian Naval Institute: Goldrick Seminar: Submarine Operations Today and in the Future.
Co-convened with the Submarine Institute Australia and the Australian Centre for the Study of Armed Conflict and Society.

The undersea environment is the most complex and challenging operating environment for navies. This year’s Goldrick Seminar will discuss these complexities and the new capabilities that will equip the Navy and other elements of the Australian Defence Force.
Registration, which includes morning tea and lunch, is $50 for ANI Members and non-ANI members. ADFA Midshipmen and Officer Cadets are offered complimentary registration, but are required to register.

Thursday 2 November: Royal Australian Artillery Historical Company Firepower Seminar No 8: The Western Front: Cambrai and the Beginning of the End.
The RAAHC is presenting the Firepower series of seminars to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, particularly highlighting the role of the Gunners. This 8th seminar in the series examines the events of late 1917. Speakers are:
Professor Michael Evans: the emergence of modern combined arms warfare
Dr Jean Bou: the battle of Cambrai
LTCOL Chris Gardiner: the advent of the tank

We conduct evening lecture meetings and presentations at the Australian Defence College (ADC), Weston Creek and at the R1 Theatrette at Russell.
Members and guests meet in the Weston Creek Mess from 5pm prior to events to enjoy networking and drinks. All are welcome. Access passes are required for entry to the ADC and can be obtained at the ADC gate on production of a photo ID.
No passes are required for the R1 Theatrette.
Australian Defence College
Entry through ADC Guard Gate - advise you are attending a USI event. Car parking is on the left. The mess and bar is at the top right. Normal lectures/presentations are held at the Spender Theatre and for larger events the Blamey Theatre.

After parking make your way to the R1 building and enter through the rotating doors. Proceed immediately to the left prior to the guard station and enter the Theatrette.
